We have heard from several taxpayers that they haven't received their school tax bill. Our School Tax Collector has provided the following information regarding a possible missing tax bill:
1. If a taxpayer's address to receive the tax bill has changed, the property owner must contact the town assessor to correct it. The assessor is the only person who can correct names, addresses, and escrow codes. The Seneca Falls Town Assessor can be reached at 315-568-9700 or dvonwald@senecafalls.com (Deborah Von Wald).
2. Taxpayers who paid off their mortgage after March 1st (cutoff date), will most likely not receive a tax bill. The bill will be sent to the escrow company. Removing the escrow code will be corrected on the next tax cycle.
3. Taxpayers who purchase or sell property after March 1st will see the tax bill sent to the previous owner’s name and will see the correction on the next tax cycle.
4. Taxpayers who live out of state but own property in the Seneca Falls CSD and want to receive a bill while living in Seneca Falls through September should request an address change for the tax bill with the assessor's office. Otherwise, the tax bill will be mailed to their out-of-state address.
5. If the scenarios above don’t pertain to you and you still haven’t received your school tax bill, please stop in or reach out to the Seneca Falls CSD Tax Collector. The Seneca Falls CSD Tax Collection office is located at 66 Virginia Street in Waterloo and can be reached at 315-539-1563.
