This FAQ provides important information for families about the 2026 New York State Grades 3–8 English Language Arts (ELA), Math, and Science assessments. Testing will take place in April and May, with ELA exams scheduled for April 21–22 and Math exams for May 5–6. Science testing will occur on May 12 for Grades 5 and 8.

All assessments are computer-based and administered over two days per subject. The tests are untimed, allowing students to work at their own pace as long as they remain engaged. Accommodations are provided for students with IEPs, 504 Plans, and English Language Learners as required.

These assessments do not impact a student’s grades but serve as an important tool for evaluating student progress and guiding district curriculum and instruction. Results are used as one of several measures to support student learning and academic planning.
