Mynderse Academy Senior Kayla Stilwell Honored by Town of Seneca Falls

Mynderse Academy Senior Kayla Stilwell recently stepped up in a big way when she helped to save a baby's life. When her pregnant Aunt recently went into labor unexpectedly, 17 year-old Kayla called 911 and then, with the help of Seneca County dispatcher Allison Archer, she was able to help deliver the baby, unwrap the umbilical chord from around the baby's neck and then began performing CPR, which she continued until the EMT's arrived. Kayla's Aunt and the baby are both doing well now, thanks in large part to Kayla's quick action.

At last Thursday's Seneca Falls Town Board meeting, Town Supervisor Mike Ferrara took time to recognize Kayla for her quick action, courage, and bravery and when he finished, Kayla received a standing ovation from everyone in the room. We are so proud of Kayla and her efforts to help others. After graduation in June, Kayla plans to attend a local community college and hopes to eventually find a career where she can help others.

Kayla will also be recognized by the Seneca Falls Central School District Board of Education at this Thursday's meeting (October 8 at 6:00 PM in the Middle School Library).
