Mynderse Academy Art Department Awarded Major Grant
Congratulations to the Art Department at Myderse Academy as they recently received a major $10,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts! The grant will support the creation and exhibition of artwork at the Women’s Rights National Historical Park in honor of the Women’s Suffrage Centennial through a direct learning and collective impact program in grades nine through twelve in the Seneca Falls Central School District.
The project culminates in a group exhibit at the Women’s Rights National Park in Seneca Falls for the 2020 celebration. This project provides the resources, materials, and experiences for students to create artwork in various mediums that will focus on our local history and the impact it had on their own personal history. The exhibit will be displayed for the public and will further educate the audience on Women's Suffrage as well as draw awareness to issues currently being faced by women today. Grades 9-12 students will also benefit from visiting artists who will provide a woman's perspective of working in an art field as well as live demonstrations in their artistic medium of choice.
We couldn't be more proud of our art teachers and all of their efforts to bring opportunities like this to our students! We can't wait to show off our student's work and visit the exhibition when it opens. We'll keep you posted!
