Mynderse Academy Bass Fishing Club Members going to National Championships

This spring, two Mynderse Academy Bass Fishing teams competed in the New York State B.A.S.S. Nation High School Team Trail. The Mynderse Academy Bass Fishing club which began in the Spring of 2018 under advisor Mel Morrin has really taken off with 16 members and 7 volunteer boat captains from the community. The club focuses on promoting the sport of bass fishing which includes camaraderie and competition, as well as education and conservation programs.

In their first tournament series, Mynderse is really making a name for themselves!

8th grader Liam Tanner and his 9th-grade partner Blake Petrocci finished 5th out of 16 teams on Owasco Lake under their boat captain JR Levis.

Team CJ Zerniak (Senior) and Brody Herron (8th grade) under Captain Mike Morrin competed in the trail successfully taking a first and second place win on Cayuga Lake on May 10th, and finished in 3rd place for both tournaments on Owasco Lake May 25th. The High School tournament series offers a bid to the Mossy Oak Bassmaster B.A.S.S Nation High School National Championship in Paris Landing, Tennessee on the Tennessee River Lakes. CJ and Brody won this bid as they finished 1st in points in the series granting their bid to Nationals. Both teams will compete again locally this Sunday, June 2nd on Cayuga Lake as the NYS High School Championship will take place offering another chance for teams to get to nationals and win up to $10,000 in scholarships.
