Mynderse Academy Football Coach Joe Caraher was named Coach of the Year by two different organizations. Joe was named Coach of the Year by his fellow Finger Lakes West Coaches and again by the Finger Lakes Officials Association - Officials Board. His athletes couldn't agree more! Here is a piece the team wrote about him this year:
"Coach Joe Caraher is known to his Mynderse Academy football players as a great coach and a great teacher. As a coach, he spends a lot of time teaching the most important aspects of life not only on the field, but in the classroom. Caraher spends countless hours prepping for his team and most of the hard work happens in the off-season when he gets his kids into the weight room for strength and conditioning training. Students say he is an incredible person who makes learning really fun. He is known for his sayings – one of which is “Games are won on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.” And the other is the team motto “Get Better Every Day.” During season, he spends countless hours watching film and prepping the kids for each game. He takes time to check on each athlete individually outside of football to make sure their school work is where it needs to be and that each of them is doing well. He has created a deep sense of family amongst the players and they credit him for their success. One player states that he took a bunch of individual kids who like football and turned them into a team that is successful. So successful, that for the first time since 1999 – the Mynderse Football team won the Finger Lakes West League Title and had a great sectional run!"
