January 25, 2021
I am writing this letter to advise you of the upcoming winter sports season New York State has given the green light to begin winter sports on Monday, February 1st pending the local Department of Health’s final decision which we will have by Tuesday January 26, 2021.
I am requesting that parents of all students interested in participating in a winter sport, (boys’ and girls’ basketball, wrestling and winter cheer) register their students on Family ID. If this was done previously you need to go in and update information. If a student was not registered parents need to register their child for the appropriate sport and level. All Family ID registrations & updates must be submitted by February 1, 2021 for the student to be eligible to participate. All students who wish to participate must have an updated physical (Physicals are good for one calendar year from the date of the physical). If they do not have an updated physical, please make an appointment with your primary care physician.

For parents that have not yet created a family ID account, you must do so to register for winter sports. Family ID is a convenient online registration for the purpose of registering student-athletes for participation in interscholastic athletics for grades 7-12. This online registration platform is secure and provides you with an easy, user-friendly way to register for our athletic programs. It also enhances us to be more administratively efficient & environmentally responsible. When you register through Family ID, the system keeps track of your information in your Family ID profile. You enter your information only once for each family member, for multiple uses & multiple athletic programs. You, as the parent/guardian, own the information, and have the luxury to update it as needed without having to send in different paperwork, call the health office, etc.
Click on the link at the top of the page and select the registration form under PROGRAMS.
Next, click on the blue REGISTER NOW button & scroll, if necessary, to the CREATE ACCOUNT/LOG IN green buttons, (First time Users only) * THIS IS ONLY IF YOU DO NOT ALREADY HAVE AN ACCOUNT THAT WAS OPENED THIS PAST SPRING.
CREATE your secure FAMILY ID account by entering the account owner first and last names (parent/guardian), Email address & password. Select I AGREE TO THE FAMILY ID TERMS OF SERVICE. Then click Create Account.
You will receive an email with a link to activate your new account.
For those who created and registered for spring sports with Family ID, all you need to do is update any information that is different and register for the fall sport your child wishes to participate in.

There is a great deal of work that must take place this week before we know exactly which sports will be approved & what level for each sport. We will also learn this week the specific end dates for the winter season.
As we learn finalized specific details, over the course of the next week, I will share them with district personnel, coaches, student-athletes and families. Please be patient as we work through all of the specifics in a very short period of time.
We are grateful for any opportunities we can safely provide our student-athletes to participate in as we continue to navigate our way through this pandemic. As with the fall season, there will be limitations and strict protocols to protect our athletes and coaches, which in turn protects all of us.
